Maximise Your Abilities
RUN Singapore|April/May 2018

It's not just about running.

Maximise Your Abilities

Think of exercises that are complementary to running and Pilates is not the first thing that comes to mind. However, the trainers at Pilates BodyTree explain to us that tuning your body to run efficiently is more important than many of us realise.

The Place The great thing about Pilates BodyTree is that the studios are situated in three different parts of Singapore. With facilities in the western, eastern and central locations, there is one that is reasonably accessible to most of us. Pilates BodyTree was started by a group of trainers and has been the go-to place for a wide variety of people, from those looking to rehabilitate their bodies post-injury to athletes looking to strengthen their core muscles for that extra edge.

Jerry Teo, the cofounder of Pilates BodyTree, has been teaching Pilates for 14 years and has seen how the goals of his students have changed over the years. “People have strong concerns about their overall mobility these days. Running is the biggest mass participation sport in Singapore today, and I’ve had many people in our classes declare that they have signed up for a half or full marathon, and they have barely trained,” he says.
