A special day in the Solomons is full of surprises
On a bright, sunny morning in the Solomon Islands, while wishing Maurine Shimlock a very happy birthday, our cetacean-filled day started off with a pod of pilot whales hanging around the live aboard, tail-flapping and spy-hopping, putting on quite a show for us. We were unable to get in the water with the pilot whales but their behaviour was nonetheless exciting to witness from the ship. We were all convinced that this was the highlight of the day. How wrong we were.
