Throughout the course of his career Derek Carr has come to expect and accept the occasional booing from the fans at the Oakland Coliseum. In the second half of the Raiders loss to the Tennessee Titans in Week 14 when the boos began cascading down, Carr didn’t think twice about it.
“It has happened before,” Carr said. “You play here long enough it will happen. We have a rowdy group and that is why we love them. They are passionate. They just want to win. Even when they are mad at you, they are like family, even when they are mad at you they still want to hug you. They still want you to do well. I understand their frustration. It has happened for six years.”
That being said, not even Carr was prepared for the booing that erupted following his baffling decision to throw away a fourth-down pass late in the fourth quarter.
The Raiders were trailing by 21 points at the time and there was little hope of a comeback, so it wasn’t as if it was a pivotal play or turning moment in the game. But just from the aesthetics, it was a play that left many fans scratching their heads.

NEWS & NOTES

Looking back at 2020 season
The 2020 season will absolutely be remembered for being one of the strangest and most disappointing in franchise history.
Gruden feeling the heat?
âI know there is a big bullâs-eye on my chest, certainly. If the people want to use that as an incentive, then so be it. I worked for Al Davis in 1998. That was pressure. I was 34 years old. Iâve dealt with pressure before. I donât really feel pressure. I love the excitement and thrill of competing, and I canât worry about things I canât control in that regard. I know people will want to step on me and beat me, and that is just the way this league is.â
