Raising The Roof, IPL Style!

Raising The Roof, IPL Style!

Before any Indian Premier League (IPL)game, fans are spotted outside hotels where the teams are staying. That’s normal. But on April 6, the authorities at the Trident Hotel in Mumbai had to place a barricade in the lobby, as people barged in to catch a glimpse of Virat Kohli, who wasn’t supposed to be there at all. Not just Kohli, all other team captains came together for a pretournament shoot at the premises.

The India and Royal Challengers Ban galore (RCB) skipper—whowas accompanied by Avinash Vaidya, the Team and Cricket Operations Manager of RCB — was in a hurry to finish off his set of television interviews to catch a flight to Kolkata. “I need a room to change,” Kohli, wearing the RCB jersey, was heard saying. He then quickly changed into a creamcoloured full sleeve tee and disappeared into the elevator with his trolley. The Delhi Daredevils skip per, Gautam Gambhir, also acknowledged a few fans for selfies.

Dhoni’s new bats

Mahendra SinghDhoni didn’t take the team bus. He was waiting for his new set of Spartan bats. The official arrived late and was looking for Dhoni’s room when a Chennai Super Kings official guided him. A few minutes later, he walked out with Captain Cool, with fans and photographers waiting to get a glimpse of the Chennai Super Kings captain.

A perfect way to earn a oneminute fame, isn’t it?

Bollywood rules

Around 4 p.m. on April 7, a good four hours before the start of the opening fixture between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, PorcupineTree’s (PT) ‘Lazarus’—a melancholic ballad — blared out of the speakers at the Wankhede Stadium. “Is it going to be soft this year?” a fan, dressed in Mumbai Indians jersey, asked his friend.
