GLAMORGAN’S batsmen have racked up over a thousand runs against the Northamptonshire attack so far this season – but Ben Sanderson is in no mood to rest up and let others take the strain.
In fact, getting the ball off him has proved almost as difficult as dismissing the Glamorgan batsmen in the two clashes between the counties this season.
“Every game the captain will tell me that I won’t have to bowl so many overs, that there will be no more eight or nine over spells,” laughs the Northants seamer. “But once I’m into a spell I’m always asking for one more over, one more chance to take a wicket.”
Taking wickets is something Sanderson has done with a regularity matched by few others in county cricket in recent seasons.
He currently boasts a first-class average of just 21 and has plans to bring that figure down by the end of the season.
Although he admits he could do with seeing the back of Glamorgan’s top order, and particularly Billy Root, as soon as possible.
