AS Yorkshire struggle to reach the knockout stages of the Royal London Cup, opening bat Tom Kohler-Cadmore is aiming to reproduce one of his best one-day innings on his return to New Road tomorrow.
Two years ago, when playing for Worcestershire before his controversial return to Headingley, Kohler-Cadmore smashed 118 against Yorkshire in the RLC, a display of aggressive batting, consisting of 10 fours and five sixes.
Needless to say, the Pears weren’t too impressed to lose such a rising star who had made more than 30 first-team appearances in each format between 2013-17.
Time, though, heals rifts and Kohler-Cadmore, capped by Yorkshire in February, is now firmly established at Headingley and a major component in all three competitions.
Last season, he hit two hundreds in the Championship and one in the Royal London Cup, a memorable 164 against Durham, and with more than 300 runs in the Vitality Blast, this tall batsman, who grew up in the East Riding and played age group cricket for Yorkshire before taking up a scholarship at Malvern College near Worcester, is one of the most exciting and capable batsmen in English cricket, but needs to be more consistent.
