With training camp underway and the master list of over 1,500 2022 NFL Draft prospects nearly complete, it is time to create a fluid big board to track and use as the games are just around the corner. At this point in the scouting process, anything and everything is possible. It would be foolish to fully diagnose specific team needs while ignoring other positions that feel secure. NFL stands for “Not For Long” in countless scenarios. With that said, it is smart to at least somewhat lean toward a direction if you see a potential hole on the roster coming via contracts. The Giants spent a lot of money this past offseason and it may force their hand at a few positions next spring. Here are three positions I will be leaning toward this fall for that reason, and a few prospects worth noting.
TIGHT END
Evan Engram is a free agent who will likely have several potential suitors despite his inconsistencies. The former first round pick is an elite athlete for the position with plenty of football ahead of him.
Jalen Wydermeyer – Texas A&M – 6’5/255
A 2020 Mackey Award finalist with an NFL body that hosts elite length and eye-hand coordination. A weapon in the red zone, a good enough blocker in the trenches, and a matchup nightmare for second and third level defenders.
Jeremy Ruckert – Ohio State – 6’5/252
