Cristian Romero believes the presence of familiar faces are sure to help him settle quickly in north London.
A defender who joined us last Friday from Atalanta, having spent the last three years in Italy after leaving his homeland of Argentina, Cristian is anticipating another huge change to his life as he embarks on his journey with us in N17. However, in knowing a few of his new teammates already, the 23-year-old is hoping to swiftly bed in.
To change countries and cultures is always going to be a major upheaval for any person but, when you have the benefit of joining friends who have already made and experienced such a switch, it can make life much easier.
Having played alongside compatriot Giovani Lo Celso for the Argentina national team, Cristian revealed that Gio played a significant part in convincing him that moving to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was the ‘best option’ for him. Meanwhile, the defender has followed his former Atalanta team-mate Pierluigi Gollini to north London this summer, with the goalkeeper having also played a key role in persuading him to head to the English capital.
Add to that our history and connections with Argentina and Romero’s mind was quickly made up on where he was headed next.
“I’m very happy to be here, in this great club. From the first moment that I got the call I was sure it was the best option to keep on improving and growing,” he began.
