With a real zest for people and life, Lucas Moura is loving his time in N17.
Quickly approaching the third anniversary of his January 2018, arrival in north London, the skilled Brazilian trickster has labelled his journey with us so far as ‘magical’.
Swapping the French capital for the English one, Lucas joined us from Paris Saint-Germain – the club where he first made his mark in Europe. He enjoyed an abundantly successful spell in the City of Light as he scooped 11 major honours in his five years there, however, a lack of playing time in his final six months saw a gloomy finish to his time on the banks of the Seine.
Then London came calling for the skilful forward – a move which presented Lucas the opportunity and environment to rediscover that sparkle which had seen him burst onto the scene as an 18-year-old back at his first club, Sao Paulo.
No matter what Lucas goes on to do in the rest of his Spurs career, supporters will forever laud his exploits in Amsterdam back in May 2019. It was his miraculous hat-trick in that Champions League semi-final night against Ajax which he admits more than makes up for those tough moments in Paris – a moment in his life which will always have a special place in his heart.
That treble from the Brazilian was also a landmark moment for us as it sent us through to our first ever European Cup Final and, while it wasn’t to be our day in the subsequent Madrid showpiece, it was a statement of our progression.
