A Recap of Offseason Events in Europe
THE MONTHS that fill the time between the end of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship and the start of the Monster Energy Supercross Series are always an interesting time for our sport. Talk of riders’ speed at private practice tracks spread through industry circles, and we all see the social media posts about the hard work put in at the gym by everyone in the field. That’s why the offseason Supercross events in Europe are such a welcome relief, as we get to see the riders’ real speed in race situations and enjoy time in some of the nicest cities on the other side of the planet. Sure, the New Year is here, but we’re already looking forward to another winter overseas.
MARVIN MUSQUIN
Marvin Musquin’s offseason didn’t included much time off. While the majority of his competition spent the time at test tracks, on vacation, or at random races, Musquin hit five of the most prestigious events and claimed three very impressive wins. But we’re here to discuss two in particular, which were the Paris-Lille and Geneva Supercross events. The races are special for Musquin because he grew up going to them as a youngster and later as an expert-level racer who claimed the top honors in a variety of classes. A steady line of fans and well-wishers filed by Musquin’s pit areas at the events, while his parents and wife, Mathilde, treated them all like old friends.
