FOR Awesome OLED picture; HDR support; neat design

AGAINST Sound quality is no more than average

LG OLED55C7V £1800

Calling LG’s 2017 OLED range a success is a bit of an understatement. It’s an odd range, though, with every model having exactly the same panel and picture processing tech. The main differences are the styling and speakers. You can spend £8000 on an LG OLED if you like, but its picture will be no better than the £1800 OLED55C7V we have on test.

The C7 and B7 are separated only by the pedestal stand and some other slight aesthetic details, but you’ll find the B7 from practically any TV retailer while the C7 is exclusive to Currys.

Aesthetic differences

The Currys’ exclusive has what LG describes as a “stiletto” stand, undoubtedly intended as an injection of elegance. Opinions are divided among the What Hi-Fi? team, though, with some prefering the B7’s crescent support. With super-thin bezels and profile, both are neat, clean, stylish affairs that will make you the envy of any visitors.

Once you’ve marvelled at the minimal design, it’s time to switch your new OLED TV on. Cartoon character Bean Bird is present to take you through one of the most welcoming and simple first-time set-up processes around.
