Marianna Hewitt, behind Life With Me, talks to us about the beauty of blogging, how she always looks rested and why she wants to be like Oprah

Marianna Hewitt is unassumingly jet-lagged on the day of her shoot with Emirates Woman. She’s fresh off a 16-hour flight from LA but she couldn’t look more bed-rested. This comes courtesy of her jetlag mask from Summer Fridays (a skin care line she founded in 2016) and a rose quartz facial roller which she uses to massage her skin after leaving it in a cup of ice, for de-puffing purposes. Her beauty tools are simple but not basic – they deliver. The proof is in Marianna herself, who has caramel skin with a permanent glow – even before makeup is applied.

It almost seems remiss to call her four-year-old blog Life With Me a blog, because it is a fully functioning website that she approaches with business acumen – as well as a sense of familiarity where her audience is concerned, making it a space for open and honest conversation. Here, she opens up about her beauty world.

How do you combat jet-lag?

I am forever jet-lagged. I have my Summer Fridays jet-lag mask which doesn’t make me look the way I feel: tired! It’s super-hydrating on the skin, plumps up any fine lines and helps when you put on your makeup because it doesn’t crack or get dry during the day. When I am in hot weather places like here, this mask helps a lot.

You are from a myriad of places – including the Middle East. What are your connections?

I took a 23andMe test (a DNA genetic testing and analysis service) and the results showed that I am seven per cent Middle Eastern. My dad’s family is Italian – a lot of people from the Middle East were immigrants in Sicily in the past, which is why Sicilians are darker than the rest of Italians and that’s where that came from. But I also have Asian and Polynesian roots too.
