It ’s no longer enough to be famous for one thing: now celebrities are aspiring to be household names shaping every facet of our lives.

Turning Fame Into Fortune : The Rise Of The Celebrity Entrepreneur

Although the concept of the slashie – those who define their careers with not one title but two or even three – is far from new, it seems that now more than ever, Hollywood celebrities are expanding their professional horizons to include a range of different ventures. While the idea of an actor/producer, singer/actor and so on has existed for years, in recent times celebrities have set their sights on something far more lucrative – enter the era of the celebrity/entrepreneur. Here, we take a look at some of La La Land’s most successful businessmen and women who have turned their fame into even greater fortune.

BEAUTY

The beauty industry is an obvious choice for celebrities who have been known or are currently known for their trendsetting looks. The most notable A-list inclusion on this list is undoubtedly Kylie Jenner. Since catapulting to fame on reality TV show Keeping Up With The Kardashians in 2007, Jenner has grown up in front of our eyes. Now, the 19 year old is a certified businesswoman in her own right. Last year alone she raked in Dhs150.5 million according to Forbes, which is more than double what she earned in 2016. The figure comes not only from her Kardashians paycheck but also her namesake clothing line with sister Kendall and her beauty brand Kylie Cosmetics. The latter, whose Lip Kits started a beauty phenomenon (the first batch sold out 30 seconds after hitting her site, the second in just 20 minutes – a pattern repeated with every drop since), is reported to have netted seven figures alone last year, with the introduction of KyShadow palettes and KyLiner pencils only adding to its popularity.
