3 ways to lift your mood in 3 minutes

1. DANCE We’re not talking Giselle here; we’re talking a three-minute high-energy dance around your kitchen to something like Abba, preferably singing along at the top of your voice at the same time – because…

2. …SINGING MAKES YOU HAPPY You don’t even need to be in tune, but you do need to be loud. Both singing and dancing release endorphins, but loud, happy noise also activates an area in your brain which makes you happy. If you really love it, join the Rock Choir (facebook.com/therockchoir) for singalongs at 4 pm every day.

3. MEDITATE FOR THREE MINUTES Yes, meditation works. But even if you don’t really get it, it will make you feel smug, which means you feel happy anyway. Winning!

8 food rules for everyone by Professor Roy Taylor, professor of medicine and metabolism at Newcastle University and author of Life Without Diabetes:

Don’t snack. Just stop it.

Rid your pantry of all biscuits, cakes, sweets, and ready-made meals.

Type 2 diabetes comes not from being overweight but from being overfed. Stop overeating!

It isn’t fat or carbs that matter – it’s how much of them you eat.
