With the party season in full swing, it’s important to caution clients against makeup overuse and harmful cosmetics. Hemchhaya De gives you the low-down.
It is the season to party and countdown to New Year celebrations. Some clients may stay back in the city while others pre-book hotspots in faraway destinations. Whichever the case, the probability of their going OTT in all aspects is high. It’s necessary to warn them about the importance of a strict skincare regimen, especially during this season of decadence. Basic guidelines must be followed—going overboard with cosmetics can lead to skin damage. Laying down a set of proscriptions for your clients will go a long way in helping them sparkle at their festive dos.
COVERING THE BASICS
If your client has been negligent about maintaining basic skincare, ask her to make amends by being vigilant during the run-up to the party season. The at-home cleansing, toning and moisturising routine is strongly advised. Exfoliation is essential too. Yashodhara Khaitan, director, Solace spa and salon, Kolkata, advises exfoliation with a light scrub or an AHA weekly or bi-weekly. “A face pack must be used once a week,” she adds. Applying a face pack is like ironing clothes— it gives a fresh glow the way ironing does!”
Other experts advise a CTOM (cleansing, toning, oiling and mositurising) routine. “CTOM forms an integral part of the daily skincare ritual. Clients should clean the face thoroughly and keep it nourished and moisturised with a CTOM routine twice a day,” says Samantha Kochhar, managing director, Blossom Kochhar Group of Companies.
The objective is to keep skin nourished and moist so it can withstand heavy makeup. “One can use a proper night cream (such as Vitamin E Night Cream) in order to keep skin moisturised,” says Samantha. A Vitamin C lightening facial can also be used to maintain suppleness. The face can also be cleaned with a Coffee Bean Scrub (for dry skin) or a Mineral Glow Scrub (for normal skin) to remove dead cells.
