THE debate on how much sex you should be having is an endless one. When it comes to the quality of sex you and your partner should be having, it turns out that there is not a set time a round should last, but what matters is that you both get the sexual pleasure you need.

Dr Marelize Swart, a psychologist and sexologist based in Cape Town, says there is no fixed time that determines how long a round should last.

“There are no 'shoulds' in life, however, if you are curious about how long a round should last, studies show anything between five and six minutes, which excludes foreplay,” says Dr Marelize.

You may find yourself trying to keep up with your man, who might want sex more often than you.

Dr Marelize advises that you and your partner should constantly communicate about matters of intimacy to better understand each other.
