Taking A Stand For Other Artists

ACTRESS Sibulele Gcilitshana (39) sets the record straight on her comments about lighter complexion people being favoured over darker ones and the sexism that still exists within showbiz.

SHOWBIZ BOSSES PREFER YELLOW BONES

The outspoken actress says it seems as though looks over talent is the formula of the industry in employing people. In a recent interview, she was quoted as saying people with a lighter complexion are favoured over those with a darker complexion for many roles.

“Over the last few years, many actresses have experienced rejection supposedly because they are dark skinned. Then you find out that someone lighter in complexion has been cast instead. It’s become difficult to get some roles of late,” she reportedly said in a daily newspaper.
