Remembering Roger

In a career that spanned over seven decades, Roger Moore, who died on May 23, was the perfect embodiment of the Hollywood screen idol. In 1962 he received his big break as Simon Templar in The Saint and after playing the role for seven years, Roger cemented his position as one of Britain’s best-loved TV stars when he teamed up with Tony Curtis in 1971 to appear in The Persuaders.

However, just two years later, Roger went on to dominate the big screen, too, when he appeared as James Bond in the first of his seven Bond films, Live and Let Die.

Responsible for bringing out James Bond’s more playful side on screen and armed with an impressive array of spy gadgets – not to mention that beautifully arched eyebrow – Roger will forever be remembered by many as the ultimate Bond.
