'I Couldn't Imagine Stopping'

John Ward remembers walking into his first U3A group nearly 20 years ago to collect his late wife and being warmly greeted by a roomful of familiar, friendly faces.

“When I picked up Marjory, I recognised several people in the group and I asked, ‘Would you mind if I joined because it seems as though it’s running like Little Theatre and the Repertory that I belonged to in the 1940s.’”

Transported back to some of the happiest memories of his childhood, John performed in JB Priestley’s classic An Inspector Calls at the local Coronation Hall beginning his near two-decade connection with a grassroots learning movement catering for those in their golden years.
