Reversing the layout and installing French doors to the garden has made Jade’s skinny kitchen feel light, bright and a lot more spacious

As I absolutely love cooking and entertaining, the kitchen is the most important room,’ says Jade Rodrigues. ‘I was delighted when we viewed this house because the kitchen was a good size, but in a real state, with broken cupboards and dirty magnolia walls.

‘When we first moved in, we didn’t have a bedroom so we had to prioritize that and the living space before we started in the kitchen, but the upside was that we had lots of time to analyze exactly what we wanted from the kitchen. I spent hours on Pinterest and looking through interiors mags, making notes about what we liked. We sketched out our plans and once we knew what we wanted, it was just about making that happen within our budget.
