‘It's gone from DRAB TO FAB!

Inspired by a swanky Italian hotel bathroom suite, Hannah took an open-minded approach to planning her space

We had lived in this house as tenants since 2015 before we started looking for somewhere to buy in 2017,’ says Hannah. ‘When I told our landlord that we’d viewed a property on the same road, he offered to sell us this house instead. It worked out well all round, because we got the house at a good price, didn’t have the hassle or cost of moving, and we were well acquainted with the changes we wanted to make.

Traditional roots

The original bathroom was done out in teal and brown, and was very old-fashioned. I wanted a rolltop bath, but Vinny thought we should ditch the bath entirely, and just have a shower, as there wasn’t comfortably room for both in the room. However, I found a semi-rolltop bath with a shower screen that fits neatly against the wall, which was a happy compromise. I chose a high-level traditional-style loo, just like my nan had in her house. I can’t remember the last time I went to a house with one, but I love it. I was worried we would have issues with the plumbing, as our old loo had a temperamental flush; a thing that niggled at us every single day. So we were so pleased that the new loo flushed normally.
