Yes, it’s that time of year again. After days of indulgence, the Ferrero Rocher/mince pie/bottle of fizz guilt is beginning to set in. You’re ready to embrace 2022 and set some serious weightloss goals. If previous attempts have failed, this new way to shift weight could be the best late Christmas present you’ve ever had (you’re welcome!).
Meet Giles Salter, the fitness coach whose mission is to educate women about their bodies and revolutionise the way you get in shape with his four-week push-pull-lift fitness programme.
So many exercise regimes concentrate on specific parts of the body. But Giles’ method aims to target your whole body at once, to build up your muscle strength, increase your metabolism and ramp up that calorie burn in double quick time. Plus, you’ll even keep burning calories after your workout, too. And to prove just how easy and accessible Giles’s workout is, he’s put Woman Editor Hannah through her paces, too.
Welcome to the 2022 way of exercising
What’s new?
The push-pull-lift programme is a form of functional training – essentially it’s helping prepare your body to perform activities in everyday life. ‘Each exercise targets different planes of movement, working multiple muscles and helping promote core strength and stability,’ says Giles.
In one session you’ll perform pushing exercises that target the front of your body (think chest, tum and arms), pulling exercises that focus on building strength in your back (often a weak area for many of us), and lift exercises – yes, those legs and bum will get a workout, too!
