‘Christmas Will Be Strange This Year'

It’s going to be a peculiar Christmas for everyone this year, with the coronavirus pandemic hanging over our heads. Like many of us, Ruth Langsford is worried she won’t be able to spend it with her elderly mum, Joan, 88, who’s in a care home.

Making things even more difficult for Ruth is the fact she’s also facing her second Christmas without her beloved sister, Julia, who sadly passed away last year aged just 62.

But despite this, the 60-year-old Loose Women and This Morning presenter is trying to stay positive and, as we speak to her about her successful QVC fashion collection, she tells us how she’s looking forward to celebrating the festive period with her husband, Eamonn Holmes, 60, and their 18-year-old son, Jack, who will be home from university.

Hi Ruth, how are you feeling about celebrating Christmas this year?

I absolutely love Christmas. It goes without saying it is going to be a very strange one this year. I have so much to be thankful for though, as Eamonn and I have been fine, thank goodness, and we have managed to work throughout. So, however we mark the day, we are going to celebrate.

You have a very close relationship with your mother, Joan. What will it be like not being able to spend the festive season with her?
