The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are fundamentally divided when it comes to how their self-imposed life in exile will have impacted those they left behind.

Meghan’s father Thomas Markle is reported to be in ill health and yet her half-sister Samantha insists the duchess has made no attempt to get in touch.
