Her Majesty will take centre stage next month when Glasgow plays host to the critical COP26 climate summit.

But as the eyes of the world focus on Scotland, the major environmental event will have a far deeper significance for the 95-year-old monarch.

Her mere presence at the hotly anticipated summit will mark a watershed moment in Her Majesty’s long reign.

In many ways it should be interpreted as a statement of intent – our Queen will continue to reign over us.

It had long been speculated that she would continue until her ‘rock’, Prince Philip, was no longer by her side.

Even senior members of the Royal Family were unsure about how the Queen would be feeling now, as her private period of mourning was prolonged by a summer on the remote Balmoral Estate.
