Christmas is a wonderful time of year for everyone, but for actress Jenny Agutter, there are even more reasons to celebrate this year – despite the ongoing global pandemic.
The Call the Midwife actress reminisces, ‘Thirty years ago, on Christmas Eve, I went to Midnight Mass and I was in floods of tears. I couldn’t think why I was so emotional. I couldn’t sing a carol, I was crying so much. Then I woke up in labor on the 25th, and Christmas Day became my son’s birthday!’
But aside from her son Jonathan turning 30, this Christmas will be particularly special because Jenny has recently become a grandma for the first time, and – Covid permitting – is hoping to spend the festive period with her husband, Johan Tham, Jonathan, his wife and their newborn son, Oliver, in Cornwall, where Jenny lives.
‘Usually, we’ll sit by the fire, roasting chestnuts, talking and having a good meal with the family,’ she says. ‘I hope we’ll be able to do that this year. The new family member would make our celebrations very special.’
