When Roxanne Ellis was on a family holiday, she and her mum went to a quilting museum in York – a visit which launched them on a lifetime of interest in patchwork.
Fast forward to last year, when Roxanne, now 29, and a Councillor in Gedling, Nottinghamshire, came across a shocking statistic that 598 women in the UK were killed by a partner or ex-partner between 2009 and 2015.
