When Woman’s Day last met Liv Tyler, star of Armageddon and The Lord of the Rings, she was deep into filming for her first TV role in the cult series The Leftovers.

She was then 36, single and a divorced mother-of-one. Her son Milo was nine and, having grown up as the only child of Aerosmith rocker Steven Tyler and model Bebe Buell, she told us she would “definitely” like to have more children as we chatted over oysters and craft beer near her home in Manhattan.

“I’m 100% planning on it, but the clock is ticking,” she said. “If the stork could just drop it off on my roof, I’d be so happy – I’d have, like, 20.”

Fast-forward to today and Liv’s domestic set-up looks dramatically different. Her second son Sailor is two and she also has 10-month-old daughter Lula.

Liv, now 39, is engaged to their father, David Gardner, a British football agent and David Beckham’s best friend, who also has a nine-year-old son called Grey from his marriage to Hollyoaks actress Davinia Taylor.

“Wow!” gasps Liv when we’re reunited. “So much has changed – and none of it was planned at all.”

Planned or not, her swiftly expanded brood fulfils a longheld ambition. “I can remember being six and I had all these dolls – I’d always take care of them and tell everyone I was going to have a big family some day. At one point, I thought maybe I wasn’t going to, but now it’s my whole world.”
