Excess of any thing is bad and that includes healthy eating, which falls in the disorder category, when taken beyond a certain point. Several healthy myths are prevalent in this world full of all forms of information. Let’s take a look at the popular health myths and try to seperate the facts from them.

Indiscriminate popping of vitamin pills: Dieticians say a well-balanced diet will provide all the nutrients that are needed. But high doses of supplements can cause adverse effects. It is also harmful for the bones and pregnant women may and end up having birth defects in their child. Intake of excessive vitamin C on the other hand can lead to diarrhoea.

Drinking several glasses of water: Undoubtedly water is essential for health and flushes out toxins from the body. General physicians explain one should not exceed more than eight glasses of water a day. Hyperhydration is not a sign of good health and can lead to chemical imbalance in the body.

Don’t over do your proteins: Fitness experts sometimes recommend going high on protein and reducing the intake of carbohydrates but it is advised else to your discretion here. Eating carbohydrates in a balanced quantity would never make you fat but rather make you feel more energetic. It is the consumption of excessive calories and not being active, which would increase the chances of gaining weight.
