As she entered her 40th year, Roma found that she had developed an aversion to sex. “I do feel guilty because it is a source of frustration to my husband; I miss the connection and the closeness that it had fostered between us. I find that sex somehow has slipped down the priority list and has not found its way back. Out of apathy or perhaps something deeper, we have just come to accept this is the way things are,” says she. Her situation will resonate with many. A British survey has revealed that a third of women no longer felt that an active sex life was important, with 48 percent admitting they had begun to lose interest in sex by their forties.

This is a problem because aside from sheer physical enjoyment, sex can rejuvenate and enhance marital relationships. Sex helps in bonding emotionally and a healthy sex life to maintain an intimate connection between the spouses.
