“‘GEORGE’ and I came together when I was in Ireland looking at horses for one of my liveries. He was one of two horses on our shortlist, but the other was a better mover, so the livery bought that one. When I got home, I was teaching Colin Fox and his son Michael and said I’d found a horse for them. It was George, who was then four. They went to try him and bought him.
“Michael, an actor, did grassroots eventing on George until he landed his role in Downton Abbey. I then took over the ride due to him not being allowed to do dangerous sports while filming.
