What Dreams May Come

BUCKET LISTS. ALL OF us have them. Consciously or not. For me, this was one off the list. A 911 GT3 RS on an FI racetrack and close to home, too.

And the experience was nothing short of a rewiring of the brainbody-car connection. The difference between a sports car and an automobile became unequivocally clear to me and I hope to bring it across to you, the reader, as best as I can.

The 911 is Porsche's and, indeed, one of the world's most iconic sports cars. The shape has remained unchanged-more or less-since the 1940s and, as an evolution of the Beetle (there, I said it), the 911 has indeed come a long way. This car here is the 991.II generation and the chance to drive it came at the Porsche Track Experience, hot on the heels of the international introduction of the all-new 992 GT3 RS, which, as I can only imagine, takes the game even further.

With my limited driving skills about to be levelled up one more ray from heaven+10 Speed, +10 Intelligence, pretty much more than anything, I couldn't wait to have a go.

I specifically asked to go for the event for this one car, should the opportunity to drive it arise-I must say. And I surely wasn't disappointed. Porsche India had lined up a fantastic and very exclusive programme to ensure that everyone drove everything. Right. And I got it twice! First up, a handling course. After getting familiar with the layout in a 992 Carrera S Cabriolet (the details of which are elsewhere in this issue) I finally got into the Miami Blue GT3 RS with sports bucket seats.
