Remember the dress that divided the global population on what colour it was, blue/ black or white/gold? Well, the Fast & Furious movies seem to divide opinions in the same vein in recent times. However, one cannot ignore the impact of these movies on global car culture. One of the biggest money-spinner franchises under the Universal banner, the Fast & Furious movies have been nothing short of a phenomenon.
It is hard to believe that the first movie came out 22 years ago, back in 2001, when the senior team at TURBOCHARGED were in college. However, we are as excited as we have always been when there is a new Fast & Furious movie on the horizon. Scheduled to release on May 19 this year, the tenth film in the series - Fast X, will see Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) fight to save his family from Dante (Jason Momoa), aided by his crew - Letty (Michelle Rodriguez), Mia (Jordana Brewster), Roman (Tyrese Gibson), Tej (Ludacris) and Han (Sung Kang) and a whole lot of exotic automobiles.
The signature black 1970 Dodge Charger R/T, a car that has become as iconic as Torretto himself, will be back in tyre-shredding action, complemented by two other, somewhat different Chargers, and a smorgasbord of other classic and exotic metal. So without further ado, let's dive right into the cars and bikes!
1970 DODGE CHARGER R/T
Dom's Charger R/T from the first movie is now a staple of the series. Packing a BDS 8-71 Roots-style supercharger on a Mopar 426 Hemi (7.0-litre) V8, it's supposed to have over 900PS, and so much torque that it can lift the front axle on a full-bore launch, and before being reinforced, when Dom's father was racing it, the "chassis twisted coming off the line".
