आजकल किसानों के सामने खेती में सिंचाई एक बड़ी समस्या है. दिनोंदिन पानी का लैवल नीचे पहुंचता जा रहा है. ऐसे समय में हमें खेती में कम पानी से सिंचाई हो, ऐसी तकनीक की दरकार है. इसी संदर्भ में केंद्र सरकार द्वारा सिंचाई के लिए माइक्रोइरीगेशन योजना 'पर ड्रॉप मोर क्रौप' के नाम से योजना चलाई जा रही है. राष्ट्रीय कृषि विकास योजना भी इस योजना के अंतर्गत ड्रिप और स्प्रिंकलर सिंचाई प्रणाली को प्रभावी तरीके से अनेक फसलों में अपनाने पर जोर दे रहा है. इस सिंचाई पद्धति से 40 से 50 फीसदी तक पानी की बचत की जा सकती है.
