When Sandra Bullock and her Speed costar Keanu Reeves took the stage at Los Angeles’ Egyptian Theatre on Oct. 8, they received a standing ovation from the audience. Thirty years after Speed roared into theaters, becoming one of the topgrossing films of 1994, the stars reunited with its director for a Q&A.

Onstage, Sandra smiled for the cameras during her first public appearance since the death of her partner, photographer Bryan Randall, in August 2023. Her last film, The Lost City, was released the previous summer. “If it weren’t for Keanu, who she loves, and the fans, she probably would have passed on the Speed event,” says a friend. “She’s still not ready to fully immerse herself in work.”
