Hollywood celebrities might have fame and fortune, but they’re not immune to the perils of break-ups and wondering about old flames. And though Halle Berry, 58, is happily involved with musician Van Hunt, the Oscar-winning actress agrees.

“I think it’s something we have all fantasised about, if we’re honest about it. Wondering what happened to the one that got away and how things would have turned out had you stayed together. Or what you would say if you suddenly ran into them now.”

It’s this notion that forms the premise of her latest big-screen offering, The Union, in which she stars alongside Mark Wahlberg. The Netflix movie sees the pair play Roxanne and Mike, former high-school sweethearts who come back into each other’s lives when secret spy Roxanne decides to recruit her old boyfriend on a high-stakes intelligence mission.

And although the theme of love lost is relatable, Halle’s circumstances are different. “We never lost contact,” she said of her old sweetheart, though not disclosing his identity.
