Researchers at Penn State University have developed a way of controlling the blood thinner heparin — the prevailing anticoagulant of choice — to maximize its effects.
A whopping 900,000 Americans suffer blood clots each year, and heparin is considered the go-to treatment. The drug is also used in hospitals to prevent post-surgical clotting complications.
