J.Lo's pain over Ben's ex-wife

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are getting divorced, and a source tells new what could have been the final straw.

As Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck last week, a source has claimed it wasn't just their marital differences that were the issue.

Following months of rumours about the state of their marriage, the singer-turned-actress officially filed paperwork at a Los Angeles court on 20 August - which coincidentally marked the second anniversary of their lavish wedding in Georgia.

Now our source has claimed that while the couple struggled to work out their relationship issues, there was another bone of contention in their short marriage - Ben's ex-wife Jennifer Garner.

Ben and Deadpool & Wolverine actress Jennifer, both 52, were married for 13 years before divorcing in 2018, but the former couple remained close for the sake of their three children, Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and 12-year-old Samuel.

And it's their continued amicable bond that was seemingly an issue for Ben's new bride.

"Jennifer wonders if they ever stood a chance," the source told new. "His ex was always in the background and Ben admitted she held a special place in his heart.

"Jennifer tried to be mature about it. She accepted he had to stay in touch with his ex for the sake of the kids, but his heart was clearly split in two and it was impossible not to feel jealous. Sometimes Jennifer's emotions got out of control and it would cause arguments.
