For something that was only meant to be a one-off, Andy Lee’s career as a children’s author may soon eclipse his other achievements. His Do Not Open This Book series, about the adventures of Wizz and his friend Nessie, has seen Lee do book signings in Rome, has won prizes in Portugal and is now published in over 35 languages. It’s also seen Lee, 42, work for the first time with his partner of nine years, Bec Harding, 32. The couple chatted to WHO about recording the latest audio book, Pretty Please Do Not Open This Book, and what might be next for their characters – and themselves.

LEE: Yes, it’s really exciting. It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster – well not really a rollercoaster. It’s been something you jump on and have a lot of fun with. I couldn’t believe how much it’s got away from me, this whole book idea. Something that was meant to be one singular book for my nephew George many moons ago, and my good mate convinced me to publish it, and now number nine and all around the world.
