When Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen announced their divorce this month, their wording was riddled with innuendo. To accompany a photograph of the pair wearing matching tennis ensembles, the post they shared to Instagram Stories read: “After a long tennis match lasting over 20 years, we are finally putting our racquets down.

“In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage,” it continued. “We have always prioritised our privacy and have been quietly working through this change. We forever share in our devotion and love for our children.”

The announcement comes after Aussie actress Rebel Wilson’s shock allegations of Cohen’s bad behaviour on the set of their 2016 film, Grimsby, and suggests the couple were more like opponents than a team during their 23 years together. And while Fisher did note their equal devotion for their children, there was no mention of moving forward amicably or respectfully, like most stars in the early stages of divorce state in their announcements.
