SLENDER MAN STABBING TOO DANGEROUS TO RELEASE

A decade after she tried to stab a schoolmate to death in a crime that shocked the world, Morgan Geyser found herself back in court as she asked to be let out of the psychiatric institution to which she'd been committed. Having initially claimed she'd carried out the brutal attack when she was just 12 years old to appease a fictional online horror character called Slender Man, Geyser now says she made up her mental health issues.

But the admission didn't turn out to be the "get-out-of-jail-free card" the 21-yearold had hoped, with the judge denying the request after ruling that there was still a significant risk to herself and the community if Geyser was released.

"Her credibility is at issue. She's changed her position," Judge Michael Bohren said. "Until that credibility is resolved, the risk is high."

In May 2014, Geyser and classmate Anissa Weier, also 12, invited their friend Payton Leutner to a sleepover before luring her into a wooded area the next morning. Geyser viciously stabbed the 12-year-old 19 times with a kitchen knife as Weier urged her on.
