They got delayed because Camy camel was stuck doing a multiplication problem. It was hard for him to remember the tables, especially of 9.
Ms Peggy Peacock had been telling Camy to learn the tables from the beginning, but Camy always shook his head in response and never learned any tables beyond 5.
They were also delayed because Sam had issues with the names of triangles. He didn't know which one was an obtuse or isosceles triangle. Max hated triangles, too. He knew the right-angle triangle, the one with the 90-degree angle, which was more than enough for him to learn now. Math was not his favourite subject anyways.
But they made it out, and now they were walking home because Sam's bicycle had broken down. Usually, Sam gave a ride to Max who always sang loudly and he wasn't a good singer. They used to pass Jessi flamingo's pond while Max sang loudly and annoyed Jessi.
They would have a good laugh every day.
But not today because it was partially cloudy.
"Looks like it will rain soon. We must walk fast," said Max. Sam remembered a shortcut through the Juniper creepers and he asked Max to follow him.
They walked along a small lane by a lamppost and went down a small hill. Max had never been to this part of town. It was so quiet and dark, that it made him a little bit scared.
"We are all alone here," he whispered, walking closer to Sam. "I should not have listened to you. We don't even have a flashlight so we can see where we are going!" He nearly tripped on a small rock.
Sam laughed. "It's not that dark. And soon, we will be out on the main road. Just after the mango trees."
