In the original A Quiet Place, we only had a few newspaper headlines pinned up around John Krasinski’s CCTV monitors to explain how the world had been brought to its knees by an alien army of “dark angels”.

A Quiet Place: Part II added some context with its flashback opening, and the apocalyptic exposition we received from Djimon Hounsou’s former city dweller Henri. Yet it was not enough to resolve all the questions we had about the eyeless ETs whose ultra-sensitive hearing meant that making the slightest sound was tantamount to an instant death sentence.
