
Founded in 1970 by Japanese designer Kenzo Takada, Kenzo has long been known for fusing Asian influences and traditional European silhouettes and techniques. Even with different creative directors at the helm over the decades, its signature blend of bold prints and striking colours has continued to be a mainstay. When artistic director Nigo took over the reins in 2021, it drew a parallel to the brand’s beginnings for two main reasons: both Japanese creatives studied at the same Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo, and both have an East-meets-West artistic vision.
