To start, let blooms fade without deadheading. Young seeds are usually green and need to ripen before harvesting. This can take several days or weeks, depending on the plant. You'll know the seeds are ready to collect when they feel hard and turn dark brown or black. The seed pod may be yellow, brown or just a paler green.
HARVEST
Gather seeds with your hands or tap them into a plastic container or paper bag. Remove as much debris as you can and set your seeds out on a paper towel to dry for about a week. Then pour them into an envelope and label it with the plant name and date gathered.

Why Bulb Depth Matters - Dig deep enough to ensure your plants stand tall and live the longest
When you're planting bulbs, it's tempting to just dig a hole as deep as your trowel will reach easily, nestle the bulb in, cover it up and move on. But the fact is, each type of bulb will flower best and thrive at a different depth.A good rule of thumb is to plant a bulb two to three times its height. One reason planting depth is important is because it helps to keep the bulbs protected from fluctuations in temperature that happen closer to the surface.
