While uniformity can be tempting, there’s a whole world of benefits that open up when you combine two types of tiles together. Whimsical walls

Designer Dina Bandman Goldstone from Dina Bandman Interiors in California, wanted to infuse plenty of playfulness in this children’s bathroom. The hand-cut mosaic, which features a colourful motif of llamas and foxes, is endearingly whimsical and strikingly stylish. “The pattern brings movement to this small space and introduces a really fun element,” shares Dina. While the mosaic is the hero of the room, it’s the lower part of the wall, decked out in traditional white ‘Thassos’ subway tiles from Da Vinci Marble that grounds the design. “There is something about juxtaposing quiet with bold,” says Dina. Crisp red ticking stripes from Sonoma Tilemakers ties in with colourful accents seen elsewhere in the room.
