For decades, my family has been part of Hatton Garden, the centre of the London jewellery trade.
I grew up around the workshops and, when I was little, remember seeing antique lover's eyes. Even back then they were rare, but of all the thousands of pieces of jewellery that came and went throughout my childhood, they're the ones that have stayed with me.
The rings I make today are a tribute to the Georgian originals, rather than an attempt to copy them.
They're also inspired by Roman jewellery, and I make them with the same 'lost wax' process, which was used in ancient times. Molten metal is poured into a hand-carved wax mould - either silver, gold vermeil, 9- or 18-carat gold, depending on what the customer chooses and then the ring is filed and polished by hand. It means that no two rings turn out to be exactly alike.
