LELOWHATSGOOD, BORN NTSIKELELO “LELO" MESLANI, is a Johannesburg based DJ, producer, writer, and cultural curator whose innovative touch is shaking up the African media landscape. With a rapidly rising profile, Lelowhatsgood is carving out a unique voice in South African entertainment.
Lelo embarked on his DJ journey in early 2017, spinning an eclectic mix of genres including House, Gqom, Amapiano, Ballroom, and Baile Funk. His debut single, "Demon's Kiss", released in 2022 alongside Dee Traits, garnered critical acclaim and set the stage for his burgeoning career. Now, with his highly-anticipated EP Next Level released in 24 May 2024, under CCA/The Music Arena & Gallo Music Publishing, Lelo is poised for international acclaim.
His magnetic presence has graced some of the world's most prestigious stages, including AFROPUNK, Boiler Room (2019 & 2022), Tresor Berlin, and the Ultra Music Festival (2023 & 2024).
But Lelo's influence extends beyond the turntables. As a writer, his insightful pieces have been featured in the New York Times, the Mail & Guardian, HUNGER magazine, Glamour, and more.
His role as a cultural curator shines through his creation of VNJ BALL, an inclusive ballroom movement celebrating LGBTQ+ pleasure through art, music, fashion and dance.
Lelo's innovative events consistently spotlight emerging talent from South Africa's underground scene, earning him a reputation as a trailblazer in event curation.
