GQ: How have your career and professional aspirations impacted your decision on when to start a family?

They have impacted it a lot. My husband and I are celebrating our 12-year anniversary this December, and we had our first child five years ago. We wanted to have a child when we were ready: mentally, physically and financially.

Being married to an entrepreneur, there are certain considerations - stability is one of them. I had to make sure I was ready, and that our child would be welcomed into a loving, stable home.
