FROM POCKET TO WRIST

In a world where technology is an integral part of our daily lives, it's easy to forget the humble beginnings of what we now call smart mobile devices. These pocket-sized powerhouses have come a long way since their inception, evolving into an indispensable part of our existence. From early mobile phones to the latest in wearable technology the journey of these devices has been nothing short of revolutionary.

Birth of smartphones

The true revolution, however, began with the advent of smartphones. These devices took the concept of mobile communication to an entirely new level. BlackBerry, with its email-centric approach, catered to the business-minded, while Nokia's E-series offered a glimpse of what a mobile computer could be.

But it was Apple that truly changed the game with the introduction of the iPhone in 2007. The iPhone was more than just a phone; it was a pocket-sized computer with a touchscreen interface, email capabilities, and an internet browser. It set a new standard for what users could expect from their mobile devices and marked the beginning of the app era with the App Store.

Evolution of mobile screens

One of the most noticeable advancements in smart mobile devices has been the evolution of screens. Early mobile phones featured small, basic displays that could only render simple graphics. Today, we have edge-to-edge displays with vibrant colours and pixel densities that rival the human eye's capabilities.

Moreover, the introduction of foldable screens has pushed the boundaries of what's possible. These screens allow for larger displays that can be folded to fit in a pocket combining the convenience of a smartphone with the screen real estate of a tablet.
